Know where it went
Spending insights you can ask about
Understand what left your accounts, what changed and what deserves a closer look, in a WhatsApp conversation.
The useful answer
Lodo helps you explore spending from connected bank accounts in WhatsApp. Ask about a category, merchant or period, then follow up on the transactions behind the answer. A useful spending picture explains the total and gives you room to add context.
What to know
- Ask a specific question about a time period, category or merchant.
- Connected accounts give the picture its coverage; missing accounts leave gaps.
- Moving money between your accounts is different from spending it.
Start with the thing that surprised you.
“Why was this month expensive?” is a reasonable feeling. Turning it into a few smaller questions makes it easier to answer. What was the total? Which category changed? Was there a one-off purchase? Did the same payment appear in more than one account?
Lodo gives you a way to follow that chain in conversation. You can start with a broad view and ask for the detail when something does not look right.
A transaction is a clue, not the whole story.
A £120 restaurant payment could be your own night out, a shared meal you paid for or a work expense waiting to be reimbursed. A transfer into savings is money leaving one account, but not money spent on consumption. Those distinctions matter if you are judging a month.
When a total is unexpected, check the transactions behind it. The aim is a picture you recognise, not a neat category that ignores what actually happened.
Compare like with like.
Compare the same number of days and the same set of accounts. A full month and a month that is still in progress are different things. So are a four-week period and a calendar month.
If you are trying a new food budget, a repeatable weekly check can be more useful than waiting for a monthly surprise. Ask what changed, choose one adjustment and check again next week.
Turn one insight into one decision.
A useful answer may lead to a budget adjustment, a subscription review or simply recognising an unusual month. You do not have to treat every change as a problem. Sometimes the best next step is to stop worrying about a total you now understand.
Use Lodo to ask the follow-up you would otherwise postpone. For the precise status of a payment or a live available balance, your bank remains the place to check.
