How to Leave Three

If you are considering leaving Three as your mobile provider, it is important to understand the process and potential costs involved. This guide explains how to check your contract, avoid unexpected fees, and keep your number when switching providers.

Check your contract first

Before you leave, find out when your Three contract ends. Log into your My3 account online or in the Three app, or call Three customer service on 0333 338 1082. Ask for your contract end date and whether you are still within your minimum term.

If you cancel before your contract ends, you will have to pay an early termination fee. For contracts started after 30 January 2023, this fee is your remaining monthly charges minus a 3 percent discount. For example, if you pay £25 per month and have six months left, your fee would be £145.50. You can text "INFO" followed by your date of birth (DDMMYY) to 85075 to check any outstanding charges.

How to cancel or switch

You can leave Three by cancelling your contract or by switching to a new provider. If you simply want to cancel, contact Three by phone (0333 338 1082), via the My3 app, or through Live Chat. Three requires 30 days' notice for cancellations. You will receive a confirmation text once your cancellation is processed.

If you want to keep your number and switch to another provider, request a Porting Authorisation Code (PAC) by texting "PAC" to 65075 from your Three phone. Give this code to your new provider, who will handle the switch and number transfer. If you do not want to keep your number, text "STAC" to 75075 for a Service Termination Authorisation Code. For broadband, Three offers an auto-switch service for a smoother transition.

What happens to your account

With a PAC code, you can keep your existing phone number. Any email addresses linked to your Three account may be lost, so back up important data before you leave. Bundled services, such as entertainment packages or discounts, will end when your account closes. If you have a smart meter or other connected devices, check with Three to confirm compatibility or next steps. Loyalty rewards or benefits are usually forfeited upon cancellation.

Your final bill will be issued within 38 days after your account closes. If you have an outstanding device payment plan, you will need to pay the remaining balance. Equipment provided by Three should be returned according to their Returns Policy to avoid non-return fees.
